openfieldwork map interface http://www.openfieldwork.org.uk/api/map.php
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 11:31:05
Developers will write up initial use of google api to determine location (superseded by Unlock )
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 11:28:23
Possible issues in granularity/ resolution of coordinates and location - services will probably produce more generic data than user-entered coordinates
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 11:25:40
Currently not sure what to do with duplicates

Relationship between static and dynamic collection under development
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 11:21:53
Static collection - still under development looking at wordpress with widget being produced by Triton. Using this as a CMS
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 11:17:43
Interface accessibility and sustainability uncertain
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 11:17:31
Wanting to think through ways to link to other resources and include resources manually
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 11:13:28
Now working on recommendations about coordinate formats for resource creators and where to put that information (currently thinking about 'description').

looking at gigapan but unclear about license and location information in its outputs (http://www.gigapan.org/)

looking at gigapan but unclear about license and location information in its outputs
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 11:09:34
services like flickr tend to remove exif / geolocation data from derivative files/ picture sizes- so Flickr records geolocation for its services but doesn't expose for downstream use
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 11:09:03
issue of relation of geomicroformat and exif location data to coding approach
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 11:08:37
one issue in the use of exif data is that not many good cameras have geolocation support - better picture quality than cellphones required but geo location support is high-end added extra
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 11:01:44
resources trying to be used are web-based - mostly html though some are ppt
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 11:01:05
not interested in where resource is but what it's about.
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 11:00:03
Dc coverage - not widely supported so use might not help
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 10:54:52
next step to work with different types of resource - Unlock needs sufficient text in the description to work.
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 10:51:48
taking fieldwork resources from JorumOpen using Unlock service and cross-referencing to GeoNames.org to derive location and pin to map interface
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 10:49:30
Using Google API to display content on maps - how do we display existing fieldwork resources on a map
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 10:48:29
Resource types about locations or skills - efforts focused on location-based work.
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 10:46:40
Building on Edina's unlock and openstream (based on openly released Ordnance Survey data) services
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 10:42:47
Drawing on work from C-Change and the STEM guidance produced in UKOER 1
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 10:40:43
Primarily working within established subject community, once more development has been undertaken the approach will be tested with other communities
Posted by johnr at 2011-01-24 10:38:45
ICO3 - external technical company contracted to do development (difficulties recruiting)
