Project Summary (derived from Final Report)

The project created an online resource that supports the development of co- generated higher education courses by universities and employers; using language and terminology which is familiar to employers – and the employees who would be acting as learners – whilst also satisfying the quality assurance requirements of higher education institutions.
The Toolkit produced contains four separate elements: Vocabulary Builder; Outcome Builder; Task Builder and Design Builder. These elements combined support the development of courses and allow learners to provide evidence to demonstrate that they have met the learning requirements of the course.
The Toolkit developed was far more flexible than was originally conceived and can be adapted for use with other higher education process, such as: accreditation of prior experiential learning (APEL); employer- based training accreditation (EBTA); quality assurance processes (e.g. validation); and general staff development (e.g. the creation of appropriate intended learning outcomes) The tool integrates with PebblePad.

The specific objectives are to develop and deliver:
* a database of learning opportunities to enable demand-led curricula
* a vocabulary that maps and aligns academic and professional standards of the learning opportunities
* the integration of ELLI with an e-portfolio system (PebblePad)

Through encouraging CPD the project will establish methodologies for BCE (Business & Community Engagement)

Integrating the Effective Lifelong Learning Inventory (ELLI) with PebblePad

Recognises the range of portals that exist locally, within and external to the institution. Furthermore, they now are developing ELLI, a learning inventory tool. Areas which exist include:
‘A database of learning opportunities to enable demand-led curricula … Centre for Enterprise and Innovation (CEI) acts as the gateway to the University for businesses. It supports links with the local community and will be an important part of the Co-genT project user needs analysis. ‘
‘Gloucestershire Enterprise Network (GEN), an online network of businesses developed in collaboration with Gloucestershire First and Business Link Gloucestershire. It aims to be a one-stop support network for local businesses, offering a wide range of services, including offline events hosted by the University.
