PALET
Also uses the IBM open standard toolset
COVARM
Of interest principally to see how others do programme validation
COVa
Could provide pointers to tools that streamline particular types of processes
PREDICT
Also uses IBM toolchain and Stutalk. Will look at the possibility of exchanging BPMN models with PALET, which uses a very similar (IBM) tool stack.

Initial discussions re possibility of using cloud-engine

Standards less

Standard Comments
BPMN
Widely used process documentation standard. Is well supported in the IBM toolset. Has been used in visio
Archimate
A language to draw the wider institutional picture with. Primarily intended for stakeholder communication. Has been used in visio
BPEL
From the project plan- for orchestration. Used for project modelling now. 2012 update - not using now
WSDL
From the project plan - Component of standard WS-* stack. Used by StuTalk 2012 update - moved to developing and using RESTful webservices
SOAP
From the project plan - Component of standard WS-* stack. Used by StuTalk 2012 update - moved to developing and using RESTful webservices
XFDL
From the project plan. Dropped in favour of SITS e-Vision forms
XSLT
Used to transform programme data into human readable HTML
XForms
From the project plan - for designing and managing structured data input. Dropped in favour of SITS e-Vision forms
XCRI
Investigation use of XCRi, 2010. Not picked up yet, but the Datahub services could provide it easily if required. 2012 Update, still interested in XCRI and analysing need internally but no strong internal drivers at the moment to use it.
REST
2012 update: Project have moved from IBM tool kit to the more generic RESTful web service approach

Technologies less

Microsoft Visio
Used for archimate and BPMN modelling
StuTalk
Investigated use however found response times very slow so now have written and implemented their own RESTful webservices
youtube
Project channel for clips from user workshops
SITS
Student record system used. System of record for curriculum information. 2012 update: using extensively now and connecting to portlet via a range of web services and datastage.
IBM WebSphere
Provides MWE portal. Hosts a programme management portlet that has all the controls for the curriculum management process. Connects through to SITS via StuTalk 2012 update: still main institutional portal, have written a portlet to connect all curriculum data/forms etc in once place .
Lotus Connections
Collaboration software and purported knowledgebase. Being evaluated along its API for fit. Not prioritised at the moment. 2012 update: have trialled APIs and now getting feeds from discussion forums etc and feeding into portlet area in Websphere. Lotus Connections now being supported at corporate level in the institution.
Datastage
IBM ETL tool used to extract and normalise data from SITS 2012 update: still using extensively to extract and transform data into main datahub
Oracle 11g
DB used for datahub/datamart
Tomcat
Used to host a set of REST services on the datahub 2012 update: Using more now as the project has moved to delivering RESTful approachs
Grails
used to develop webservices http://blogs.cf.ac.uk/palet/entry/holy_grails_a_groovy_solution

PALET SUM
Potential SUM that maps how tools and specs hang together. This depends on whether there is interest elsewere in the organisation

Team have moved from orignal plan of using the IBM tool set to taking a more generic RESTful web service approach. Having this more generic approach is enabling the architecture developed in PALET to be rolled out to other projects in the University, which will help with sustainability.

Team haven't looked at XCRI since last conversation, but team are confident that they can quickly develop a webservice to generate XCRI data if needed.

Have just commenced formal modelling phase. Using web-sphere modeller which creates BPMN. Also can export from websphere into integration tool to actually run a model.

Investigation version control -issue arising from baseline report. Tensions between formal and informal documents and where/when to store versions. Looking at Lotus connections to build informal community development areas. It has inbuilt knowledgebase system. Final version of formal documentation has to go into SRS.

Project will discuss with others in institution about possibility of developing a SUM around StuTalk with CETIS . StuTalk implemenation not direct responsibility of PALET team. This would probably be in 2010.
